AEO and GEO for AV Integrators: Get Cited When a Buyer Asks ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, or Perplexity Who to Hire
A growing share of your buyers never type a keyword. They ask a full question, and an AI answers it by reading a handful of pages and naming two or three companies. We build the pages those systems read, from the facts of your business, and show you in Search Console which questions you are now cited for.

AEO is answer engine optimization: being the source an AI answer quotes when someone asks a question. GEO is generative engine optimization: the same work aimed at generated answers in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Claude. For an AV integrator the two are one job. The homeowner who used to search "home theater installer Sherman Oaks" now types "who offers on-site installation and customer service for multi-room audio systems near me," and the answer names companies. Either you are one of them or you are not.
The good news is that the answer engines read the same things search engines read: specific pages, clear structure, and claims a crawler can verify. The difference is in how the questions arrive. They are longer, they are full sentences, and they carry the buyer's situation inside them. We already see them in our clients' Search Console reports, and that is where this work starts.
How the system works
Four systems that run while you’re on the job site.
01
Pages that answer the question the way it is asked
AI systems break a question into sub-questions and look for a page that answers each one directly. A service page that says what you install, which brands, which towns, and what happens on a site visit is citable. A page of adjectives is not. We write service and area pages, FAQs, and short explainers from your real facts: product lines, coverage, process, and what you turn down.
02
Structured data the answer layer can parse
FAQPage, Service, and LocalBusiness or HomeAndConstructionBusiness schema on every page that earns it, with the service area, the brands, and the questions and answers marked up so a crawler does not have to infer them from layout. Plus a plain-text llms.txt brief at the site root that states who you serve, what you do, and where the substantive pages are.
03
Fan-out questions answered as they appear
Search Console now shows the long questions buyers ask through AI: full sentences, sometimes with a "my location is" or a competitor name appended. Each month we read those queries and add a short, factual FAQ for any new one the site does not already answer, on the page where the answer belongs. Nothing invented, no prices you did not approve.
04
Measured in impressions at position one, then in clicks and calls
The first sign AEO is working is a query at position one with impressions and no clicks: your page is being read inside the answer. The second is the click-through once the buyer wants the consult. We report both, by question, every month, alongside the service-plus-area rankings from the SEO work.
What it fixes
AI answers already name your competitors and not you.
Ask ChatGPT or Google AI Mode for an integrator in your area and read who comes back. The companies named have pages that answer the question; the rest have brochure sites.
How we fix it: Service, area, and FAQ pages written from your facts give the answer engine something to cite.
Your site ranks on page one and still gets no click from AI answers.
Position one with impressions and zero clicks is the AI Overview citing your page and answering the question for you. The buyer got your facts without your name mattering.
How we fix it: Pages built to be cited carry the company name, the brands, and the towns inside the cited passage, and end with the next step, so the citation is a referral.
You cannot tell whether any of this is happening.
There is no AEO dashboard from Google. The signal is in Search Console, in queries nobody reads because they are long and odd-looking.
How we fix it: We read them every month, classify the question-style queries, and track which ones you are cited for and what changed.

Common questions
What is the difference between AEO, GEO, and SEO?
SEO gets a page ranked in a list of links. AEO (answer engine optimization) gets a page quoted in a direct answer, such as a Google AI Overview or a featured snippet. GEO (generative engine optimization) is the same aim for generated answers in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, and Claude. For an AV integrator they are one program: the same specific pages, schema, and FAQs serve all three.
How do AI answer engines pick which AV integrator to name?
They split the question into parts (what service, which area, what brands, who installs and supports it) and look for pages that answer each part plainly, then cite the pages that answered best. Specific service and area pages, structured data, consistent business details, and reviews all feed that choice. There is no submission form and no way to pay for placement.
How do I know if AEO is working?
Search Console. Look for full-sentence queries, queries ending in "my location is," and queries with a competitor name appended. A page at position one with impressions and no clicks on one of those is being cited inside the answer. We report these every month, and clicks and consults from them as they follow.
Does AEO replace SEO for AV integrators?
No. The AI answer reads the pages that rank. Without the service-by-area pages and indexation work, there is nothing to cite. AEO and GEO are a layer on top of the SEO build, which is why we deliver them together rather than as a separate retainer.
Can you guarantee my company will be cited by ChatGPT?
No, and be careful with anyone who does. Nobody controls what a generated answer includes. What we control is whether your site gives the answer engine specific, verifiable, well-structured pages to draw from, and whether we notice and respond when new questions show up in Search Console.
Is this included in the AV marketing system or a separate service?
Included. The pages, schema, llms.txt, and monthly question review are part of the SEO and website build for every AV integrator client. We put a name on it here because integrators are now asking for it by name.
